Answer: Taxes, Credits, Child Tax Credit

What is the Child Tax Credit?

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 created a tax credit for parents, grandparents and others who are responsible for the support of children under age 17. Families that qualify receive a credit of $1,000 per child (for the years 2003 through 2010.) The credit is phased out for high-income taxpayers.
