What is dollar-cost averaging?

Dollar-cost averaging is a regular investing plan in which you buy the same dollar amount of a stock or mutual fund on a regular basis. This cuts your risk of buying just at the moment a stock peaks. By following this strategy, you automatically buy more shares when the stock price is lower and fewer shares when it’s higher.
