The Associated Press reported that shares of PNC Financial Services soared after the Company said its profit grew sharply during the third quarter, even as loan losses rose. The Company said rising interest and fee income, boosted by its acquisition of National City Corp., more than offset a big jump in loan losses, which rose to $650 million from $122 million in the third quarter of last year. Earnings available to common shareholders totaled $467 million, or $1 per share, in the three months ended Sept. 30, as its revenue more than doubled to $4.05 billion. Both income and revenue were well above what Wall Street was anticipating.
PNC Financial Services Declares Dividend Of $0.1 On Common Stock

PNC Financial Services announced that the Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.1per share on the common stock. The dividend is payable October 24, 2009 to shareholders of record at the close of business October 13, 2009. The Board also declared a quarterly cash dividend on the following preferred stocks; Series A and B: a dividend of $0.45 per share will be payable December 10, 2009, to shareholders of record at the close of business November 18, 2009. Series C, a dividend of $0.4 per share will be payable January 4, 2010 to shareholders of record at the close of business December 11, 2009. Series D: a dividend of $0.45 per share will be payable January 4, 2010, to shareholders of record at the close of business December 11, 2009. Series K: a dividend of $412.50 per share, ($41.25 per each depositary share representing one-tenth of a share of the Series K preferred stock), will be payable on November 23, 2009, to shareholders of record at the close of business October 30, 2009. Series L: a dividend of $2,468.75 per share ($.6171875 per each depositary share, 4,000 of which represent one share of Series L preferred stock), payable on November 2, 2009 to shareholders of record as of the close of business October 15, 2009. Series N: a dividend of $1,250.00 per share, payable on November 16, 2009, to shareholders of record as of the close of business October 30, 2009.

The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton (Bank), the subsidiary operating bank of Emclaire Financial Corp, announced that the Bank completed its acquisition of the full-service branch office of National City Bank (National City), now a part of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. located in Titusville, Pennsylvania. The office will open for full service as a Farmers National Bank office on August 31, 2009. Pursuant to the terms of the Purchase and Assumption Agreement dated April 7, 2009, Farmers National Bank assumed approximately $90.0 million in deposits in exchange for approximately $32.7 million in loans, $53.8 million in net cash, and certain fixed assets of the branch office. The Bank paid a premium of 3.4% on deposits assumed. The Bank has retained all employees of the Titusville Office.

Computershare Limited announced that it has acquired the transfer agent business of National City Bank (National City), a subsidiary of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. National City is a provider of transfer agent services to approximately 155 companies and their 500,000 registered shareholders. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
