| The Wall Street Journal reported that Microsoft Corp. is pitching five of the advertising companies a deal to buy its digital ad agency Razorfish and to use Microsoft Corp.'s advertising technologies and possibly buy hundreds of millions of dollars of ad space across its Web properties, according to executives familiar with the situation. Several of the companies Microsoft Corp. has pitched in the past week, including WPP Group plc, Omnicom Group Inc. and Publicis Groupe S.A., have expressed interest in Razorfish and are considering a more extensive commercial relationship with Microsoft Corp., the people say. Microsoft Corp. has also been in contact with Interpublic Group and Dentsu, according to people familiar with the situation. All five firms are giant holding companies that offer services ranging from advertising and marketing to public relations. Microsoft Corp. has hired Morgan Stanley to shop Razorfish. |
