Humana, Inc. reaffirmed its fiscal 2009 earnings per share (EPS) guidance of approximately $6.15. For fiscal 2010, it expects EPS to be in the range of $5.05 to $5.25. Fiscal 2010 estimate includes military services EPS between breakeven and $0.10 per share (including the impact of asset write-downs and other charges) and excludes any potential impact from pending health legislation or regulatory reform. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts are expecting the Company to report EPS of $6.15 for fiscal 2009; EPS of $5.37 for fiscal 2010.

Humana, Inc.'s HumanaDental Insurance Company To Provide Dental Benefits By Employees Retirement System of Texas

HumanaDental Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Humana, Inc., has been chosen by the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) to provide dental benefits for more than 500,000 participants who are eligible for the group-benefits program, including state and certain higher education employees, retirees and their dependents. There are currently 394,000 participants enrolled in the dental plans. HumanaDental began providing dental benefits to ERS participants on September 1, 2009, under a contract that expires on August 31, 2013.
U.S. Medicare Probes Humana, Inc. Over Letter To Patients-Reuters

Reuters reported that U.S. health officials are investigating whether Humana, Inc. used so-called scare tactics when contacting its Medicare Advantage health insurance plan customers and warning them about pending health reform legislation, according to a letter released. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which oversees the Medicare program for the elderly and disabled as well as privately-run Medicare Advantage options, ordered Humana, Inc. to halt all related outreach until the agency concluded its investigation. CMS said Humana, Inc.'s letter alleges that current health care reform legislation affecting Medicare could hurt 'millions of seniors and disabled individuals [who] could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare advantage health plans so valuable. The letter could violate federal regulations, it added.
Sun Life Financial Inc. (USA) And Humana, Inc. Join Together To Offer A Greater Choice Of Dental Plans

The Employee Benefits Group division of Sun Life Financial Inc. (USA) announced that it has entered into an agreement with Humana, Inc. to offer a greater choice of dental plans to employer groups in select markets. The marketing agreement allows employers to purchase Humana`s dental HMO (DHMO) as the low-cost option on a Dual Select Dental Plan, with a Sun Life plan as the high-cost option. Plans will be available through Sun Life in Texas, Florida and Illinois. DHMO dental plans are offered by HumanaDental Insurance Company, and underwritten by CompBenefits Dental Inc., DentiCare Inc. and CompBenefits Company, all of which are Humana subsidiaries. With the DHMO, a member may see a primary care dentist, within the network, as often as necessary. There are no yearly maximums, no deductibles to meet and no waiting periods. Plan administration will be seamless to employers, with both plans easily administered through Sun Life`s Plan Administrator Web portal. Employees have access to either Sun Life`s or Humana`s plan member sites, for user-friendly provider searches and online explanation of benefits.
