Capitol Federal Financial is a federally chartered mid-tier mutual holding company that operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Capitol Federal Savings Bank (the Bank). The Bank is a federally chartered and insured savings bank headquartered in Topeka, Kansas. The Bank attracts retail deposits from the general public and invests those funds primarily in permanent loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences. It also originates consumer loans. While the Bank’s primary business is the origination of one- to four-family mortgage loans funded through retail deposits, it also purchases one- to four-family mortgage loans from correspondent lenders located within its market areas and select market areas in Missouri and nationwide lenders, and invests in certain investment and mortgage-related securities funded through retail deposits, advances from Federal Home Loan Bank Topeka and repurchase agreements.
