The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in publicly-traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) and companies that are principally engaged in the real estate industry. It may also invest in mortgage REITs. Mortgage REITs make short-term construction or real estate development loans or invest in long-term mortgages or mortgage pools.
