Exchange-traded funds
They look like mutual funds, but they're not. They have fewer expenses and fewer tax consequences, and you know exactly what you're buying, because each mirrors a particular market index.
Five new iShares, all sector funds that include both U.S. and foreign companies, started trading on the American Stock Exchange last week.
